Best Practice in Disaster Preparedness in Auckland and San Francisco: A Cross-city Comparative Analysis

by Jake McPhee

Increasing the levels of disaster preparedness among residents in developed metropolitan settings is becoming an issue of the utmost importance. The Sendai Framework encourages local and central governments to engage in efforts to “Enhance disaster preparedness for effective response, and to build back better in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction”.

A special thanks to Jake McPhee for sharing his analysis. And thank you to our BRMA members (you know who you are) for your willingness to be interviewed and share your expertise, which contributed to Jake’s research paper.
