SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Charlie Maclean-Bristol: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?
DESCRIPTION:September 30\, 2021: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?\nBefore COVID-19\, we dutifully completed BIAs\, developed our plans\, including preparing for pandemics. Some organizations who had developed pandemic plans\, found them to be useless and out of date…as the pandemic they planned for \,was not the pandemic they got. COVID-19 arrived and BIAs was chucked into the corner. Our senior managers wanted all processes to function normally and immediately\, and everything became a priority. RTOs (in some cases) were not adhered to\, and parts of the organization did not recover for weeks. \n\nOur plans were used to manage COVID\, but lots of organizations who didn’t have BCPs in place worked out what to do and developed their response very quickly.  With the increasing threat of cyber ransomware and a push by the government for operational resilience amongst financial institutions\, is business continuity losing\, or has it lost its relevance? Will the job of the business continuity practitioner be condemned to the bin of history along with switchboard operators\, milkmen and leech collectors? \n\nJoin us for a conversation with Charlie Maclean-Bristol and hear his thoughts on how to turn BCM into Operational Resilience and what you can do to continue to stay prepared through any impact that your organization may face. \nSpeaker Spotlight: Charlie Maclean-Bristol \nWebinar Registration\n\nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n\n\nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Shree Prasad: Changing Perceptions: Transforming Business Continuity Management into Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Transforming Business Continuity Management into Resilience\n\nThe concept of Business Continuity & Resilience has existed from times memorable. But the term Business Continuity came into the limelight with the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.  It was a ‘wake-up call’ for the organizations.  Despite this\, did Business Continuity or Resilience really garner and propagate the terms Business Continuity and Resilience beyond the Corporate World? The answer is both Yes and No.  Yes\, because there was surge in the number of people taking up BCM / Resilience roles.  And No\, because these terms were never applied on self or taught to others outside the Corporate world. \nWith the world getting highly volatile and COVID-19 setting the standards high\, it is imperative that Resilience should now tap the door of every household\, school\, college and community. The world has moved from Business Continuity to Resilience.  But have we? \nJoin our session to learn how Resilience should be a way of life and part of our DNA. Changes in perception and shifting their mindset\, will help everyone both professionally and personally. By creating the right awareness around every threat and risk\, it will help operations become proactive rather than reactive. \n\nSpeaker Spotlight: Shree Prasad\n\n\nWebinar Registration\n\nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n\n\nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | MaryJane Leslie: Alternative Social Media - Monitoring and Intelligence Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Alternative Social Media – Monitoring and Intelligence Strategies\n\nOne of the biggest challenges facing the security industry is the trend in users moving towards less regulated\, alternative social media. Threat actors and disruptive events are being planned and promoted on sources that are becoming increasingly more difficult to monitor. While it may seem like new networks are popping up and falling off rapidly\, it is critical for teams to understand what types of intelligence are available to them and how to best stay on top of these sources. \nMaryJane Leslie will lead this exciting session and provide insights concerning alternative social media and how they might play a role in the future. \n\n\nWebinar Registration\n\nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n\n\nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Mark Pierepiekarz: Bounce Back Stronger
DESCRIPTION:Bounce Back Stronger – Practical strategies to rapidly recover after earthquakes\n\nThe current Covid-19 pandemic teaches us that pre-disaster risk assessment\, preparedness\, mitigation\, and rapid response can reduce a potential disaster into a manageable emergency. This is also the case with earthquakes\, and when such low-probability high-risk events happen\, businesses want to be prepared and resilient. Consequently\, business recovery managers require good understanding of earthquake exposures and effective mitigation strategies for their organizations.  \n  \nMark Pierepiekarz will lead this exciting session and describe lessons from recent earthquakes\, an approach to assessing and quantifying earthquake risks\, as well as prioritizing mitigation actions that lead to a rapid recovery of operations in the event of a major earthquake. \n\n\n Learning Objectives/Takeaways \n At the conclusion of this session\, the attendee will be able to better understand: \n\nWhat are earthquake hazards?\nWhat are “drivers” for earthquake losses and business interruption? \nWhat is key in reducing the severity of earthquake impacts to bounce back stronger?\n\n\nWebinar Registration\n\nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n\n\nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Inspire Series | Steve Eberlein
DESCRIPTION:Creating Cultures of Preparedness\nWhy do people not prepare for disasters? How do we create cultures of preparedness? These have long been the questions\, and we have consistently chosen the wrong answers. In March of 2019\, FEMA issued a scathing report on two decades of its own national preparedness efforts\, declaring them nothing short of a miserable failure. \nWe have to fix these problems through a shift in our mindset. In this session\, Steve Eberlein is a professional preparedness speaker who specializes in earthquake preparedness will show you how he convinces people to prepare for disaster events. His presentation will include: \n\nA short overview of the history and science of Bay Area earthquakes\nAn exploration of how the “knowledge myth” has misguided decades of preparedness efforts\nA personal case study in how his behavior leads perfect strangers to change their own\nThe role that emotion plays in one’s preparedness conversion\n\nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email has been sent directly to BRMA members with registration details. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information including a registration link. \nBecome a Member to Participate!\nWish to attend\, and are not a member?
