SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Expanding Your Program to Include Emerging Threats
DESCRIPTION:Expanding Your Program to Include Emerging Threats | Presented by Lisa Jones & Mark Hoffman\nTraditionally\, business continuity / resilience programs focus on loss of facilities\, systems\, employees\, and suppliers. SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Shannon Berg: Solve the blind spot: Up-level your communications preparedness!
DESCRIPTION:Solve the blind spot: Up–level your communications preparedness!\n\nCommunications is the blind spot in most business resilience programs. Poor messaging and delayed communication can torpedo even the strongest operational response to a crisis. Without a crisis communications plan and without knowledgeable leaders\, your organization’s reputation will suffer. Yet true communications preparedness is hard to come by. Studies show only half of US companies have a crisis communications plan. Many of the plans that do exist are outdated\, non-actionable\, and unpracticed. The problem lies in how decision-makers see the role of communications in preparedness\, and in what communicators have to offer. Shannon Berg\, APR\, is the founder of the award-winning crisis communications consulting firm Berg & Associates. In this discussion\, Shannon will reveal a new strategy for making the case for communications planning. She will explore how to engage communicators in a more integrated approach to crisis communications\, and how to bring communicators into the tent as partners in resilience. \n \nSession participants will learn:\n\nThe five steps to transform communications from a blind spot to a core strength\nHow to bring communicators into your tent and reframe their thinking on the role of crisis communications\nKey components of an actionable crisis communications program\nWhy and how you – business resilience professionals – must lead the way!\n\n  \n\nSpeaker Spotlight: Shannon Berg\n\n\nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n \n \nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Troy Rydman | Evolving Cybersecurity Threat Landscape: Timely & Effective Information Sharing Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Evolving Cybersecurity Threat Landscape: Timely & Effective Information Sharing Strategies\nCost\, liability\, and fear are the biggest threats facing our cyber defense professionals. The most effective tool that hackers have used against companies and public entities today\, is scaring us into keeping threat intelligence secret. While the dark web has provided collaboration for organized crime\, governments oppose sharing of information with other countries related to cyber attacks\, and because of this we are unable to understand how our defenses can be effectively be shored up. SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Charlie Maclean-Bristol: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?
DESCRIPTION:September 30\, 2021: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?\nBefore COVID-19\, we dutifully completed BIAs\, developed our plans\, including preparing for pandemics. Some organizations who had developed pandemic plans\, found them to be useless and out of date…as the pandemic they planned for \,was not the pandemic they got. COVID-19 arrived and BIAs was chucked into the corner. Our senior managers wanted all processes to function normally and immediately\, and everything became a priority. RTOs (in some cases) were not adhered to\, and parts of the organization did not recover for weeks. \n\nOur plans were used to manage COVID\, but lots of organizations who didn’t have BCPs in place worked out what to do and developed their response very quickly.  With the increasing threat of cyber ransomware and a push by the government for operational resilience amongst financial institutions\, is business continuity losing\, or has it lost its relevance? Will the job of the business continuity practitioner be condemned to the bin of history along with switchboard operators\, milkmen and leech collectors? \n\nJoin us for a conversation with Charlie Maclean-Bristol and hear his thoughts on how to turn BCM into Operational Resilience and what you can do to continue to stay prepared through any impact that your organization may face. \nSpeaker Spotlight: Charlie Maclean-Bristol \nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n \n \nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Shree Prasad: Changing Perceptions: Transforming Business Continuity Management into Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Transforming Business Continuity Management into Resilience\n\nThe concept of Business Continuity & Resilience has existed from times memorable. But the term Business Continuity came into the limelight with the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.  It was a ‘wake-up call’ for the organizations.  Despite this\, did Business Continuity or Resilience really garner and propagate the terms Business Continuity and Resilience beyond the Corporate World? The answer is both Yes and No.  Yes\, because there was surge in the number of people taking up BCM / Resilience roles.  And No\, because these terms were never applied on self or taught to others outside the Corporate world. \nWith the world getting highly volatile and COVID-19 setting the standards high\, it is imperative that Resilience should now tap the door of every household\, school\, college and community. SUMMARY:BRMA Workshop | Steve Eberlein: Persuasive & Impactful Business Communication
DESCRIPTION:Persuasive and Impactful Business Communication\n\nOne of the obstacles that we face as resilience professionals is securing internal support from senior leadership. As planners\, “selling” isn’t always in our wheelhouse\, but it’s a skill that we all need to gain backing for our most ambitious resilience projects. If you’re looking to polish your next big pitch\, or if you simply want to become a more impactful and persuasive communicator\, this workshop is for you. \nBRMA’s own Membership Director\, Steve Eberlein\, is a TEDx alum and professional speaker. In the course of delivering more the 200 live and virtual presentations\, including to leadership teams of name brand companies\, he’s seen everything go wrong\, and has learned to do it right. He has developed a three-part workshop exclusively for BRMA members. \nPart 1: Prepping Your Pitch\nSteve will take you through the fundamentals of preparing an effective presentation. Par1 of the workplace will cover:\n•The two things that you need to know about your audience\n•How to deliver a noteless presentation\n•Effective vs. awful use of PowerPoint\n•Choosing the scope of your pitch –what’s too much\, what’s too little\n•Winning the day with Q&A\n•Special tips for virtual presentations \nPart 2: Rehearsal\nIt’s as trite as it is true that practice makes perfect. Practice before a friendly audience is the best practice of all. The second part of our workshop will present an opportunity to deliver your presentation before others in the Speakers Workshop cohort and receive candid\, supportive feedback. Your session will be recorded and shared back to you with notes so that you can make the tweaks needed to nail your pitch. \nPart 3: Take the Stage\nOur BRMA monthly membership meeting is a great opportunity to take your newly learned skills primetime. While wholly optional\, BRMA wants to hear from its members and for its members to benefit from one another’s expertise. We will give you any amount of support you need to get you over the finish line! \n\nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n \n \nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Mark Pierepiekarz: Bounce Back Stronger
DESCRIPTION:Bounce Back Stronger – Practical strategies to rapidly recover after earthquakes\n\nThe current Covid-19 pandemic teaches us that pre-disaster risk assessment\, preparedness\, mitigation\, and rapid response can reduce a potential disaster into a manageable emergency. This is also the case with earthquakes\, and when such low-probability high-risk events happen\, businesses want to be prepared and resilient. Consequently\, business recovery managers require good understanding of earthquake exposures and effective mitigation strategies for their organizations.  \n  \nMark Pierepiekarz will lead this exciting session and describe lessons from recent earthquakes\, an approach to assessing and quantifying earthquake risks\, as well as prioritizing mitigation actions that lead to a rapid recovery of operations in the event of a major earthquake. \n\n\n Learning Objectives/Takeaways \n At the conclusion of this session\, the attendee will be able to better understand: \n\nWhat are earthquake hazards?\nWhat are “drivers” for earthquake losses and business interruption? \nWhat is key in reducing the severity of earthquake impacts to bounce back stronger?\n\n\nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n \n \nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member?
