SUMMARY:Rethinking Rapid Business Continuity: Value Stream Mapping in Action
DESCRIPTION:When a major insurance provider required our client to build their first business continuity plan (BCP) in just eight weeks\, Stone Risk Consulting turned to a non-traditional but highly effective method—value stream mapping (VSM). Traditional business impact analysis (BIA) processes can be too slow and cumbersome for situations that demand fast\, strategic planning. By focusing on major workflows\, dependencies\, and basic risk analysis\, we successfully delivered a comprehensive BCP within the aggressive timeline. In this session\, you’ll learn why value stream mapping is an effective alternative for accelerating business continuity planning. We’ll cover the key challenges of traditional BIAs\, walk you through our rapid VSM deployment\, and explain how this approach can be applied to mainstream business continuity management (BCM) programs. With VSM\, organizations can rapidly identify risks\, prioritize workflows\, and develop actionable continuity plans.   \nTime: Apr 24\, 2025 12:00 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada) \nREGISTRATION LINK: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/-Tp22FEFTeCJ4EP4Wp3CJg \n\nQuestions\nPlease contact info@brma.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nVisit brma.com to learn more about our the benefits of becoming a member.

SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Expanding Your Program to Include Emerging Threats
DESCRIPTION:Expanding Your Program to Include Emerging Threats | Presented by Lisa Jones & Mark Hoffman\nTraditionally\, business continuity / resilience programs focus on loss of facilities\, systems\, employees\, and suppliers. Today\, emerging risks and threats must be considered as potential business interruption. Some risks are universal\, and pose a threat to every company\, while others are organization specific. No matter which risks or threats apply to an organization\, it is important for resilience programs to plan if the risk becomes reality. This session will look at global emerging threats that your resilience program may want to consider including climate change\, the rise of nationalism and civil unrest\, and DEI. We will also discuss a several threats which have transitioned from “emerging” to “common” risks. We will provide tips for expanding your program’s focus to deal with global and organizational risk and the value of integrating business continuity and crisis management to mitigate disruption impacts. \nThree takeaways:• Why resilience programs need to expand their view to include emerging threats.• How to identify what organization specific risks and threats to include in your program.• The value of integrating business continuity and crisis management disciplines to mitigateimpact. \n\nSpeaker Spotlight: Lisa Jones and Mark Hoffman\n\nAgenda:\n11:00am-12:00pm PST | Presentation & Conversation \nWebinar Registration\nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar Innovation Series | Instant Bites with Alex Winch (BlackRock)
DESCRIPTION:Innovation Series | Instant Bites with Alex Winch (BlackRock)\nBRMA invites you to the first session in our Innovation Series\, Instant Bites with Alex Winch of BlackRock.   \nAs a resilience professional at a large global company\, imagine a catastrophic earthquake striking your San Francisco office on Monday. Are you able to predict the business impact felt half way across the globe in your Hong Kong office by that Friday? \nFor the majority of organizations\, it is difficult to holistically analyze these dependencies across large institutions.  As more companies take a data-driven approach to business continuity and as new Operational Resilience regulations come into force\, Alex believes that automated testing will become increasingly relevant over the next decade.  \nJoin us for a thought provoking conversation where Alex will explore how to bring dependency mappings to life and use them in automated simulations that compliment traditional exercises.  \n\nSpeaker Spotlight: Alex Winch\n\nAgenda:\n11:0am-12:00pm PST | Presentation \nWebinar Registration\n A Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Shannon Berg: Solve the blind spot: Up-level your communications preparedness!
DESCRIPTION:Solve the blind spot: Up–level your communications preparedness!\n\nCommunications is the blind spot in most business resilience programs. Poor messaging and delayed communication can torpedo even the strongest operational response to a crisis. Without a crisis communications plan and without knowledgeable leaders\, your organization’s reputation will suffer. Yet true communications preparedness is hard to come by. Studies show only half of US companies have a crisis communications plan. Many of the plans that do exist are outdated\, non-actionable\, and unpracticed. The problem lies in how decision-makers see the role of communications in preparedness\, and in what communicators have to offer. Shannon Berg\, APR\, is the founder of the award-winning crisis communications consulting firm Berg & Associates. In this discussion\, Shannon will reveal a new strategy for making the case for communications planning. She will explore how to engage communicators in a more integrated approach to crisis communications\, and how to bring communicators into the tent as partners in resilience. \n \nSession participants will learn:\n\nThe five steps to transform communications from a blind spot to a core strength\nHow to bring communicators into your tent and reframe their thinking on the role of crisis communications\nKey components of an actionable crisis communications program\nWhy and how you – business resilience professionals – must lead the way!\n\n  \n\nSpeaker Spotlight: Shannon Berg\n\n\nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n \n \nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member? SUMMARY:BRMA Webinar | Charlie Maclean-Bristol: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?
DESCRIPTION:September 30\, 2021: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?\nBefore COVID-19\, we dutifully completed BIAs\, developed our plans\, including preparing for pandemics. Some organizations who had developed pandemic plans\, found them to be useless and out of date…as the pandemic they planned for \,was not the pandemic they got. COVID-19 arrived and BIAs was chucked into the corner. Our senior managers wanted all processes to function normally and immediately\, and everything became a priority. RTOs (in some cases) were not adhered to\, and parts of the organization did not recover for weeks. \n\nOur plans were used to manage COVID\, but lots of organizations who didn’t have BCPs in place worked out what to do and developed their response very quickly.  With the increasing threat of cyber ransomware and a push by the government for operational resilience amongst financial institutions\, is business continuity losing\, or has it lost its relevance? Will the job of the business continuity practitioner be condemned to the bin of history along with switchboard operators\, milkmen and leech collectors? \n\nJoin us for a conversation with Charlie Maclean-Bristol and hear his thoughts on how to turn BCM into Operational Resilience and what you can do to continue to stay prepared through any impact that your organization may face. \nSpeaker Spotlight: Charlie Maclean-Bristol \nWebinar Registration\n \nA Signup email will be sent directly to BRMA members prior to the event. \nBRMA Members: Please login for additional registration information. \n \n \nGuests\nWish to attend\, and are not a member?
