September 30, 2021: Is Business Continuity a Victim of Covid?
Before COVID-19, we dutifully completed BIAs, developed our plans, including preparing for pandemics. Some organizations who had developed pandemic plans, found them to be useless and out of date…as the pandemic they planned for ,was not the pandemic they got. COVID-19 arrived and BIAs was chucked into the corner. Our senior managers wanted all processes to function normally and immediately, and everything became a priority. RTOs (in some cases) were not adhered to, and parts of the organization did not recover for weeks.
Our plans were used to manage COVID, but lots of organizations who didn’t have BCPs in place worked out what to do and developed their response very quickly. With the increasing threat of cyber ransomware and a push by the government for operational resilience amongst financial institutions, is business continuity losing, or has it lost its relevance? Will the job of the business continuity practitioner be condemned to the bin of history along with switchboard operators, milkmen and leech collectors?
Join us for a conversation with Charlie Maclean-Bristol and hear his thoughts on how to turn BCM into Operational Resilience and what you can do to continue to stay prepared through any impact that your organization may face.
