Business Continuity, Resiliency and Risk at the California Academy of Sciences

What to do when everything you do is critical. Michael Costanzo of the California Academy of Sciences will present on business continuity and recovery challenges and strategies for the Academy.
The Academy venues and functions includes:
- Natural History Museum–Exhibits you see on the public floor
- Aquarium–the Living Collection, indoor rainforest and the largest living coral reef exhibit in the world
- Planetarium–scientifically accurate full dome shows
- Institute for Biodiversity, Science and Sustainability– twelve scientific research departments
- Science Education–onsite, youth programs, writing curricula, teaching the teachers, etc.
- Strategic partnerships, bioGraphic and iNaturalist are great examples
- Scientific Field Work
Come learn how the Academy address risk through Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), conducts live action drills and tabletop exercises to improve readiness and response capabilities, and maintains a Building Occupancy Resumption Program (BORP) for major earthquakes.
As an added bonus, meeting attendees can also experience the Academy’s “Shake House”, plus stay after the session to enjoy the museum until close at 5pm. There’s also a special evening event called “NightLife” (6-10pm); please let us know if you are planning to stay.
